Growing up in Memphis, Tennessee was certainly an influence on Andy Childs to pursue a career in music. Determined to follow in the footsteps of the legendary performers who had also come from the historic music city, Andy was already traveling and performing in his late teenage years. After majoring in Commercial Music Business at the University of Memphis, Childs hit the road full-time, serving as opening act, music director, and keyboardist for a series of Nostalgic Rock and Roll tours featuring Fabian, Frankie Avalon, the Drifters, the Shirelles, and more than 40 other stars of the 50’s and 60’s.
Between tour dates, Andy spent most of his time in Nashville, Tennessee, writing and recording original material. He eventually landed a recording contract with RCA Records, and recorded two albums which featured several chart hits and music videos. While promoting his records, Childs toured with Clint Black, Faith Hill, Martina McBride, Trisha Yearwood, Charlie Daniels, and many other top country stars of the 90’s. Andy’s music videos were seen regularly on CMT, GAC, VH-1, Much Music, and CMT Europe, and he made a number of appearances on network and cable television programs in the U.S. and Canada.
In 2002, Andy Childs formed a five-member group called ‘Sixwire’, and recorded an album for Warner Brothers Records. The group’s self-titled debut made an impressive Top 30 debut on the album charts, and featured two hit singles, plus a ground breaking hit video for the song ‘Look At Me Now’. The group is now on hiatus after touring for two years with today’s country stars including Tim McGraw, Lonestar, SheDaisy, and many others.
